Lenten Devotional "Little Easter"
Lenten Devotional for Sunday, February 21, 2021.
Every Sunday in Lent is considered a “little Easter,” a time to celebrate the Lord’s resurrection and spend time praising God. So, in keeping with this, our Sunday devotionals will be traditional Easter hymns. Take a moment to sing these with your family or by yourself. If you like, listen to the song on your computer or phone. But be sure to spend time rejoicing and praising God for our new life in Jesus Christ.
Crown Him with Many Crowns
By Matthew Bridges, 1852
1. Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul and sing
Of Him Who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
2. Crown Him the Lord of love!
Behold His hands and side—
Rich wounds, yet visible above,
In beauty glorified.
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends His wond’ring eye
At mysteries so bright.
3. Crown Him the Lord of life!
Who triumphed o’er the grave,
Who rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing,
Who died, and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring,
And lives that death may die.
4. Crown Him the Lord of heav’n!
One with the Father known,
One with the Spirit through Him giv’n
From yonder glorious throne,
To Thee be endless praise,
For Thou for us hast died;
Be Thou, O Lord, through endless days
Adored and magnified.
Lenten Devotional Day 4
Lenten Devotional for Saturday, February 20, 2021.
Lenten Devotional
By Julie Burroughs
Scripture Reading:
Philippians 4:6,
Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Reflection:
My Facebook timeline popped up a memory this morning describing a list of what I called “trials” that occurred all in one day at the time. Those trials seem trivial now in the light of what the world is facing with COVID-19 and all the actions being taken to battle the pandemic. We have a lot to worry about, but let’s turn that worry into prayer!
An important element to prayer is to fill it with trust in and praise for our Lord. The ability to fill our words and actions with trust and praise, especially in times of adversity, sets us apart as Christians and, by doing so, serves as witness to the world.
Prayer:
Lord, Let us never forget we are Yours and You deeply care for us. Grant me Your peace as a sign to others that You are in control no matter what.
Lenten Devotional Day 3
Lenten Devotional for Friday, February 19, 2021.
Lenten Devotional
Psalm 96:1-2
Sing a new song to the Lord!
Let the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Sing to the Lord; praise his name.
Each day proclaim the good news that he saves.
I Will Sing a New Song
by Howard Thurman
The old song of my spirit has wearied itself out.
It has long ago been learned by my heart;
It repeats itself over and over,
bringing no added joy to my days or lift to my spirit.
I will sing a new song.
I must learn the new song for the new needs.
I must fashion new words born of all the new growth
of my life - of my mind - of my spirit.
I must prepare for new melodies that have never been mine before,
that all that is within me may lift my voice unto God.
Therefore, I shall rejoice with each new day
and delight my spirit in each fresh unfolding.
I will sing, this day, a new song unto the Lord.
Lenten Devotional Day 2
Lenten Devotional for Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Lenten Devotional
By Becky Jordan: Pray Like a Juggernaut
Scripture Readings: Take a moment and look up these Scriptures today.
Exodus 32:11-14
Joshua 10:12-14
1 Kings 18:42-46
Acts 4:30-31
Reflection:
According to the Oxford Dictionary, juggernaut means, " a huge, powerful, and overwhelming force or institution." Moses prayed like a juggernaut in Exodus 32, as an intercessor when the Israelites worshipped a golden calf and God’s anger burned against them, wanting to destroy His chosen people. Years later, his successor Joshua, leader of Israel, mighty military and prayer warrior, prayed in chapter 10, petitioning God to make the sun stand still over Gibeon and the moon to remain over the Valley of Aijalon in a battle the Lord had promised victory to Israel. Elijah earnestly prayed to God high upon a mountain top for rain which would end the three-year drought and display His power. In Acts 4, Peter and John ardently prayed for the Lord to work mightily through them with signs and wonders in the name of Jesus. Old Testament leaders and prophets and apostles of the New Testament had access to the same God who still sits upon His throne desiring to hear and answer the prayers and petitions of his children.
During this time of Lent, let us lift our prayers and petitions as the biblical juggernauts who preceded us. In Isaiah 43:19, we read, "Look; I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert."(HCSB) God has given this verse to various members of New Hope over the past three years. Let us fervently seek God's will for New Hope and align our direction with his master plan in our lives, in New Hope’s mission and ministry which we undertake in our community, our country, and the world – the master plan evidenced in His Word time and time again.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I cry out to you for only Your Voice and Your Direction. You have told me You are doing a new thing. You brought me to Mt. Precipice and reminded me again of Your Word. Give me eyes to see, ears to hear, wisdom to discern, and boldness to step out in Your Strength.
In the Name Above All Names I humbly offer my prayer, Amen.

Calling ALL Musicians
Would you like to be part of the New Hope Music Ministry?
The Music Ministry at New Hope, would like to extend an invitation, to those who might be interested in Volunteering in our Ministry through Music, in some capacity.
We currently hope to restart our Worship Leading Choir, at the 9am service, and that opportunity is open to anyone, at any level, who wishes to Sing Praises to Our Great God, from a Heart of Joy ! There are no auditions for that Choir, just a willingness to serve, and sing Praises of Gratitude and Thanks, during our 9am service on Sunday mornings.
Rehearsals for that group are Wednesday nights at 7 – 8pm. Other more skilled opportunities are also available for singers and musicians who read music, and have had some experience, and are of a certain skill level. I would be happy to talk to anyone interested in serving by using their gifts and talents on any level.
Right now, we have a current need for Bass guitar players. You do need to read music at some level, but I’m always willing to work with you, help teach you, and allow you to progress in ability as time goes by.
Currently, we like to have our Team folks serve every other week, if possible.
Please feel free to contact me via email , text or call on 813-843-4314, and I’ll be happy to talk details with anyone who is interested. This invitation includes singers, guitarists, keyboardists, drummers, brass or woodwind players, or strings.
I always look forward to speaking with anyone interested in serving in any capacity, in Music Ministry. Thank you !
Sincerely, Jeff Brant

Season of Prayer - 24/7 Prayer Opportunity
Join us as we start a season of prayer at New Hope.
Dear New Hope Friends,
We are beginning a new season of prayer at New Hope! This past year has been difficult – we have been isolated from one another, church connection has been hard, and mission and ministry has been complicated to say the least. Regardless, we know that God is calling us to proclaim the Good News of Jesus to more people in our community and beyond. With all the challenges we currently face, it seems now is the most critical time to tell others about the love and hope that only comes from Jesus Christ. But how do we do this in the middle of a global pandemic? I may not have answers, but I know the one who does!
Thus, we pray. Starting Ash Wednesday (Feb. 17), we will embark on a 24/7 Prayer Room at New Hope. This means we will have individuals praying for the mission and ministry of New Hope 24 hours a day, for 7 days in a row. We will be asking God for direction and wisdom. In fact, our main question for this prayer week is, “What’s next, God?”
We need your help! A 24/7 Prayer Room means we have 168 slots to fill. To sign-up, go to https://www.signupgenius.com/go/newhopeprayer OR contact AmyJo Rodriguez at 813-909-6865 or via email.. The daytime prayer slots will mainly be in the New Hope Sanctuary and the nighttime slots are in your home.
We are so excited about what God is going to do in and through the people of New Hope!
Blessings,
Pastor Vicki
