Scripture- Luke 1:38- Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.

Observations- An angel shows up with an incredible, over-the-top message of the way the Creator of the universe wants to use an unmarried, teenage girl to give birth to the Messiah, the One who would offer salvation to all people. No problem believing that, right?! Mary receives this word as a blessing and commits herself to live into the fullness of this message of great hope and deliverance.

Application- How hard is it for us to believe that God can and will call us to far more than we could ever think or imagine? Sometimes our problem isn't that we think too highly of ourselves; rather that it's that we think too little of God's power to be at work in and through the likes of us. Whatever gets in the way (like your past or even current struggles to grow closer to Christ) of you believing God can use you needs to be tossed aside in faith and trust. God can...

Prayer- (John Wesley's Covenant Prayer) I am no longer my own, but yours. Put me to what you will, rank me with whom you will; put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed by you or laid aside by you, enabled for you or brought low by you. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to your pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are mine, and I am yours. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on earth, let it be ratified in heaven. Amen.

"Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God." (Ephesians 4:1),
