Read Deuteronomy 11

Scripture- Deuteronomy 11:22- Be careful to obey all these commands I am giving you. Show love to the Lord your God by walking in his ways and holding tightly to him.
Observations- Moses was trying desperately to let the Israelites know how incredibly important it was for them to continue to honor God with obedience in each successive generation- not just partially, but totally- in a way that would reveal the depth of their love and respect for the living God. The admonition to "be careful" and "hold tightly" to God couldn't (and can't!) be emphasized enough.
Application- In the 1980's I always enjoyed the refrain from the Sergeant each week on Hill Street Blues: "Let's be careful out there!" It was always said with great compassion and a deep desire to see each officer thrive as they went out into a dangerous world. God tells us "Let's be care full out there," too. We want to reveal God's great love for all people, but this can only truly happen if we will "walk in His ways;" that is, we want to live out the truth with extraordinary grace. How can you do that today?
Prayer- (by St. Jerome- 347-420) O Lord, you have given us your word for a light to shine upon our path; grant us so to meditate on that word, and follow its teaching, that we may find in it the light that shines more and more until the perfect day. Amen.
Jesus: "You are my friends if you do what I command." (John 15:14),
