Scripture- Genesis 8:18-22“18 So Noah, his wife, and his sons and their wives left the boat. 19And all of the large and small animals and birds came out of the boat, pair by pair. 20 Then Noah built an altar to the Lord, and there he sacrificed as burnt offerings the animals and birds that had been approved for that purpose.[e] 21 And the Lord was pleased with the aroma of the sacrifice and said to himself, “I will never again curse the ground because of the human race, even though everything they think or imagine is bent toward evil from childhood. I will never again destroy all living things. 22 As long as the earth remains, there will be planting and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night.”
Observations- After pushing the reset button, God determined it was time to restart the ecosystem He had created. He used Noah, his family and a couple of each animal species as a healthy sample and tasked them to reproduce and repopulate His earth. This particular portion we´ve selected, together with the next few chapters of the book of Genesis, explains how this process took place.
Application-Now, the interesting thing is that, even though the task was humongous, Noah said let´s get to WORSHIP before saying, let´s get to WORK. Our tendency to get the job done makes us forget, or in the best case relegate, the God of the job. If we really want to do God´s work and be fruitful in it, we should remember that worship is not a ritual but a relationship with Him, it´s not a luggage but a language, not a coercion but a connection. With God, worship is always a solid first step, the igniting spark of eternal new beginnings.
Prayer- Dear God, help us be in a constant and natural relationship with you through worship. Help us speak your language and stay connected with you. Help us worship you in spirit and in truth. In the Name of Jesus, we pray, AMEN!
