Read Exodus 7

Scripture- Exodus 7:3-4a- But I will make Pharaoh’s heart stubborn so I can multiply my miraculous signs and wonders in the land of Egypt. Even then Pharaoh will refuse to listen to you.
Observations- This notion of God "hardening the heart" of anyone is curious and mysterious in Scripture. Some things to remember God doesn't harden anyone's heart who doesn't already have a heard heart; that is, God is simply allowing them to continue on the trajectory they have already chosen. Pharaoh didn't become an automaton without free will.
Application- God is sovereign and in control, and we have free will to join Him in accomplishing His purposes, drifting aimlessly as if God's purposes aren't all that important, or we can fight to defeat God's purposes. If we want our hearts to be hardened, they will be. If we want our hearts to be open to the things of God, they will be. What trajectory are you on? What trajectory do you intend to pursue with God's help?
Prayer- Dear God, thank You for Your grace and blessing in my life. Please soften my heart, so I can draw closer to You and be drawn into Your purposes for my one and only life. Lord, I pray for this church. Let it be filled with people who long for You to be at work among us in a way that draws many others to a life saving relationship with Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
"And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart." (Ezekiel 36:26),
