Read Exodus 6

Scripture- Exodus 6:9, 13- So Moses told the people of Israel what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery...But the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron and gave them orders for the Israelites and for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. The Lord commanded Moses and Aaron to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt.

Observations- Moses and Aaron had been given clear marching orders already, which God re-confirmed for them, but the Hebrew people weren't interested in listening to the message from God. This didn't, however, relieve Moses of his responsibility to lead as God had called and commanded him. God never declared accomplishing their freedom would be easy or free of significant pain and difficulty.

Application- There are always going to be times when called Christ followers feel like throwing up their hands and walking away, especially when we aren't getting tons of affirmation from the people we are trying to lead or help to a better place in life or in relationship with God. So when people don't respond the way we want that means we are free from God's call and command on our lives? Of course not! God's call trumps our need for positive affirmation we are on the right track. That being said Moses did have Aaron on the journey with him. We, too, need support and care when to road is rocky.

Prayer- Lord, thank You for Your call and command in my life. When I get discouraged, lift me up and surround me with other people who will encourage me. Even when things aren't going the way I had hoped or our progress seems too slow, I will make adjustments and seek other help, but strengthen me not give up. You are good. I am grateful. Amen.
