Scripture- Exodus 6:9- So Moses told the people of Israel what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery.
Observations- Under the oppression of the Egyptians the Israelites found it too good to be true that God would actually do as He had promised to Moses in leading them to a far better place. That didn't, however, let Moses off the hook from following through with what the Lord commanded of him. God urged Moses to push on with the plan of confronting Pharaoh to let the people go.
Application- It's great when we get lots of support from people around us for doing what's good and right and God's plan for us, but the fact is- just like it was for Moses- we won't always get the support and backing from others in the way we want or expect. There will be times when it is good and right to go against the grain, and this will require us to have a rich and deep connection with the living God, the inscrutable One who declares "I Am Who I Am."
Prayer- Dear Lord, thank You for being with us to guide and direct us, especially during those times when it doesn't feel like we have very much support from those around us for doing what we've discerned is good and right and in Your plan. Give us strength, wisdom, and courage to press into the future You have declared for us, in Jesus' name. Amen.
"Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong." (1 Corinthians 16:13),
