Our Vision at New Hope

How Can We Reach the World for Jesus?

Luke 4:16-21

This Sunday, August 11, we will continue our 3-week sermon series “Our Vision at New Hope.” Our vision at New Hope is that we will all be, both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ: Rooted in God’s Word, Renewed by the Holy Spirit, and Reaching our community & world with the love of Christ.

This week, I will focus on the last part of our vision - reaching our community and world with the Good News of Jesus. We serve a God of mission who seeks to redeem his world and make things right again. God sent Jesus for this purpose - to proclaim the Good News of the Kingdom of God - and Jesus sends us to do the same (Luke 4:16–21, Luke 4:43, Luke 9:1–2, Luke 10, John 17:18, John 20:21). In fact, as God’s church, we have been sent to live out and proclaim the Good News AND to share that Good News here, there, and everywhere (Matthew 28:19, Acts 1:8).

At New Hope, we do that by coming alongside mission partners at home and abroad, by blessing community partners, engaging in Fresh Expressions, and by living out our “sentness” in our own neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and places of recreation. But this is not a vision for just a few dedicated workers, it is a vision for ALL of New Hope. Every single person plays a role in making our vision a reality.
